| About Your Paris Vacation Rental |
|
On a quiet
cobble-stone street, just around the corner from one
of the last remaining windmills on the hill of Montmartre,
and on the same street where Picasso (and others) painted,
you’ll experience a “Coup de Coeur” (love
at first sight!).
After a walk up one short flight
of stairs, step into an oasis of light, serenity and
comfort, Coeur de Montmartre (Heart of Montmartre), your
home away from home.
There is a small entrance hall
separating the bedroom, living room, bathroom and WC.
The LIVING ROOM has two
big gorgeous windows to let light fill the room and give
views across the rooftops of Paris, revealing a glimpse
of the Eiffel Tower and when the leaves have fallen from
the trees perhaps even the Arc de Triomphe and Trocadero.
The open floor plan of the
living room and kitchen means you can continue the conversation
with your fellow guest(s) when you pop into the kitchen
to pour a glass of wine (or champagne!) and you’ll
even have a view of the top of Eiffel Tower – just
to remind you that you’re in Paris, after all.
The dining table seats four.
The living room sofa pulls out
to a comfortable double sofa bed. The doors separating
the living room from the bedroom and the entrance hall
provide added privacy for anyone sleeping on the sofa.
The BEDROOM is spacious
and serene with both curtains and venetian blinds to
keep out the sunlight until you are ready to get up.
There is a queen-size bed, which can be converted into
two singles, depending on your needs. Reading lights
on both sides of the bed mean you can switch off the
light while your companion continues making plans for
the next day’s adventures.
You are by no means limited on storage space with the
large bedroom closet. And when you want to catch up on
e-mails, there is a Mac computer on the small writing
desk by the window.
Both BATHROOM and WC were
renovated in 2008. Luxuriate in a perfect bath in the
evening, or enjoy a shower in the morning.
The apartment is bright with
vibrant accents, wood floors, oriental rugs, and soft
fabrics that add warmth and depth to the décor.
Decorating the rooms are drawings of street scenes of
Paris, vintage cover prints from “Le Petit Parisien” and
other wonderful antiques.
Renew your spirit and rest your
weary feet in the comfort and peace of Coeur de Montmarte
knowing that you are living in what was and still remains
the heart Paris’ artistic community. |

| About the Area |
Rue d’Orchampt , is at the heart of the
officially designated historic district of Montmartre. Named after the
patron saint of France, St. Denis (Montmartre means “Mountain of
the Martyr”), this neighborhood is packed with history, and still
retains its ancient and bohemian charms. A five-minute walk in any direction
is alive with history and possibility. Discover the fantastic views of
Paris from Sacre Coeur (made of a stone that cleans itself whenever it
rains); the Bateau Lavoir – the birth place of Cubism - on place Émile
Goudeau at the end of the street, where Picasso painted and spent his
evenings with Max Jacob, Apollinaire, Modgliani and others; the church
of Saint-Pierre de Montmartre, which dates back to 1133; the place du
Tertre, full of stalls and people wanting to paint your portrait, but
surrounded by lovely quiet streets; the Moulin de la Galette, a windmill-turned-dancing-club
that inspired Renoir’s Le Bal du Moulin de la Galette; and rue des
Saules, where you’ll find the last remaining vineyard of Paris and
the Lapin Agile where Picasso paid for lunch with a painting of Harlequin
which was sold at auction in the 1980s for millions!
Fans of “Amelie,” much of which was
filmed in this neighborhood, will of course recognize “Au Marché de
la Butte” at 56 rue des Trois Frères, just beyond place Emile
Goudeau. Walk through the quiet streets in Montmartre and soak up the
almost village like atmosphere, and you’ll find wonderful cafes
and restaurants, small jewelry and clothing boutiques, antique shops,
galleries, florists, bakeries, food shops, and parks

At the end of the street, just below the place Emile Goudeau,
is a very good bakery so fresh croissants for breakfast are just minutes
away! A short walk down the hill takes you to rue des Abbesses and rue
Lepic where there are excellent restaurants, bars, fresh food - there
is a market every day, except Monday. There are wonderful bakeries, a
fantastic cheese shops, and several very good delicatessens as well as
everything else you could possibly want and more!
The closest metro is Abbesses (line 12) which is direct to the
Bld Haussmann area – a main shopping area with Galeries Lafayette
and Printemps department stores; the Madeleine and it’s flower market;
the Place de la Concorde and the Tuileries Gardens – visit the Orangerie
and enjoy Utrillo’s paintings of Montmartre; the Musée d’Orsay
(M° Solférino). Two nearby bus routes - 80 and 95 - go either
to the Champs Elysées and the Eiffel Tower, or to the Louvre and
St Germain des Près
