We've had a splendid break for our anniversary in your excellent flat.

The location is the highlight for us, apart from the Canal, ponts, monuments and Hotel du Nord (all which were great!) it's quite obvious that this is still Real Paris, a very lively quartier with everything you need more or less on the doorstep. Paris comme autrefois!

About Your Paris Vacation Rental

Tucked away on a quiet street named after two daughters of a former resident (Marie et Louise), between the Canal St Martin & the Hopital Saint Louis (Paris' oldest hospital), is a a charming 2-bedroom apartment we have named, Parisian Charm. Though withdrawn from the hustle bustle of Paris' busy streets, this apartment is ideally located for either walking or riding to the tourist sites.

Situated on the 5th floor (no worries there is an elevator), enter a peaceful, tranquil environment that you will call home on your visit with us.

In the entrance hall is a our bathroom, with bath and spa shower with jets to massage those sore muscles after a grueling day of sightseeing.

We have also installed a combination washer/dryer for your use.

Enter the main room with a dining area for 4 and an open kitchen to make dinner preparations that much more convivial.

The kitchen is fully equipped with combination microwave oven, large refrigerator and dishwasher - so you'll certainly feel right at home.

You can either have your meal at the breakfast bar for two or sit at the table for four.

Relax and watch cable, with international channels, on our large screen TV or a DVD from our collection. Listen to your own music by plugging in your iPod or Mp3 player into our speakers.

We have provided a mac computer for your use for checking email or looking up information on the internet.

If you prefer to read, browse through the novels on the bookshelf or plan your next day's touring with the guide books we have left in the apartment.

Though not a pull out sofa bed, the sofa can be used as a single bed for a small child if you are in need of more than 2 beds but we can not accommodate more than 4 people max.

One bedroom is off the living room and has a comfortable double bed and its own storage closets for you to unpack. Use the electric shutters if you wish to ensure sleep in complete darkness.

The master bedroom has a queen size-bed and is located on the opposite side of the apartment for added privacy. Both bedrooms face a courtyard and so remain very quiet at all times of day.

This apartment truly has a lot to offer the most discerning traveler and will be an excellent choice for your next Parisian holiday.

You have the best of both worlds here, great local amenities in a quiet haven and a central location to all that Paris has to offer. We hope that you will fall under the charm or Parisian Charm.

About the Area

The Canal St Martin and Place de la Republique areas of Paris are synonymous with great food both French and International, and a young fun and lively atmosphere. Not only are the Parisian re-discovering this area but it has become THE hot spot for many desginers, restauranteurs and other trendy minded people.

You can take a barge ride originating from the Bastille along the Canal which was once a principal water route for import and export for Paris. This is a leisure voyage which is great fun for kids and adults alike with the mechanical locks and footbridges.

On warm evenings and at weekends, bring a picnic or a take-away and sit on the banks of the canal to watch the world go by.

Just a few meters from the apartment is the Hopital Saint Louis founded by Henri IV shortly before his assassination, whose central square (open to the public on weekdays) is a remarkable example of 1615 architecture, a calmer and more hidden version of Place des Vosges.

You can also find great shopping along the Canal.

There are fantastic restaurants on your doorstep, your only problem will be choosing which one to eat in first!

Apartment Location

You are only 15 minutes walk from the Gare du Nord station making arrival by either Thalys, Eurostar or the RER B from the airport, quick and easy.

You can use any of three stations to move around the city, with Republique providing the most options with 5 lines.

The line 75 bus, with a stop very close to the apartment, can take you over to the Hotel de Ville.

Just across the Place de la Republique is the Marais. To the East of the apartment lie Belleville and Menilmontant, the home of the toiling masses of the French Revolution, now largely redeveloped and housing many of Paris' migrant communities.

For children and picnicking adults, enjoy the open space of the Jardin Villemin along the Canal or take the metro up to the Buttes de Chaumont which though little known to tourists is well worth a visit for its large green spaces, waterways and architectural delights (including the town hall of the 19th district just outside).
